I like to groom my eyebrows on a daily basis and don’t prefer leaving them as it is. Previously, I had tried Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Kit Ash Brown and liked it, so this time I thought of picking up another powder brow product. When I sat to look out for options, I found out quite many, but none seemed that appealing. Then, my eyes caught up The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit and the 2-in-1 product seemed interesting. The brand does amazing skincare and haircare and The Body Shop Truly Nourishing Banana Shampoo and Conditioner are my favourites! I hadn’t tried any makeup products from the brand, so thought of giving this one a shot.
It has been quite a few months since I got the product, so here’s everything about it.
This is what the product claims:
“Pick up our handy Brow & Liner Kit, complete with a double-ended brush for brow and liner excellence. Define, shape, fill and line, with silky-smooth shades for a faultless finish”.
Some of the features of the product:
- Brow kit
- Fine texture powders
- Contains two shades
- Double ended brush
- Ophthalmogically tested
- Dermatologically tested
The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit comes in a cute compact-like packaging which looks much handy. On opening the top portion, a small mirror is placed which makes it possible to have a quick touch-up whenever needed. Also, it eliminates the need for carrying a separate compact mirror, which is a great thing. The kit also comes with a dual-ended brush. One side of it has angular bristles, while the other one has a slim tip. The brush is also flexible, so it provides a good amount of precision while I fill in my brows.
However, I didn’t like the tip with the finer slimmer tip since it hardly picks up any product. I mostly prefer using the other angular side to fill in my brows since it does the job well.
The mirror and brush look like this:
The product has the following ingredients:
Key ingredients: Community Fair Trade marula oil, Vitamin E
Other ingredients: Talc (Absorbent/Bulking Agent), Mica (Opacifier), Isostearyl Neopentanoate (Emollient), Zinc Stearate (Binder), Synthetic Wax (Binder/Emollient), Polybutene
There are 2 different shades in which The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit comes. One is 02 Brunette & Brown and the other is 03 Brown & Black. I particularly went for the shade Brown and Black since I have jet black eyebrows. Since the kit has 2 different shades of the brow powder, it becomes quite easy to make my brows look as natural as possible.
Browner shade is not the usual brown, it is slightly on the darker side. Something similar to coffee. Now that I mentioned about it, I am craving for it, lol! 😛
Also, the black felt like it would be the usual black like the one in eyeshadows. And it honestly appeared so as well. But when I applied it for the initial time, I found out that it was greyish black, and not jet black.
This is how both the shades look like:
Okay, so since the kit seems like it has 2 different powdered brow fillers, I initially had a mindset that it would be usual powdery colours that would have fallouts. But to my surprise, the powders are so finely milled, and they glide so smoothly on my brows with hardly any fallouts. I was delighted on seeing this since I don’t prefer products when they have huge fallouts. But well, it quite impressed me.
Well, honestly speaking, the colours are not much pigmented. But I am totally fine with it since I can control the amount of product to be used and not fear to overdo my brows.
This is how the powders look like on my hand:
I thought that the powders would last for a good time, but I was proved wrong when one day I decided to fill in my brows with the kit. It was a sweaty summer day and the product started to meltdown on my face. the sight was terrible! Since it doesn’t come with any setting wax or gel, and only contains powders, it is obvious that it wouldn’t stay for a long time. If the temperatures aren’t raised, you can definitely give this product a try. It would last you a good couple of hours. But well, if it is hot or humid, it isn’t advisable.
I work with this product by setting it with a brow gel and my brows stay in place throughout the day. The kit isn’t bad at all, the only fact that it doesn’t contain any setting product, you would have to find another product to set your brows.
Quantity and price:
The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit is priced at ₹895 for 3g. I know it is much on the pricier side, but hey, it’s The Body Shop! Their products are worth every penny spent. Also, the powders in the kit would last me quite long since I don’t feel the need to dip in the brush more than 2 times.
How to use:
Apply the shades through the brows, following the direction of natural hair growth.
How I like to use The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit:
- I brush my brows with the help of a clean mascara wand to see where the gaps are to be filled in.
- Then I dip in the angular side of the brush in the brownish shade.
- I start filing in my brows from where they begin in small strokes in the direction of the hair growth.
- Once I reach the arch, I dip the brush in the black shade and fill the rest of them.
- I leave them as it is in case, I’m not heading out.
- Else, I take the L.A. Colors Browie Wowie Brow Tinted Gel, Soft Brown, and set my brows properly so that they stay in place throughout the day.
Make sure that you don’t take too much product at once and fill in your brows with small gentle strokes in the direction of the hair growth. This will make sure that your brows look as natural as possible. you can always build up the intensity as per your liking, but it’s difficult to get rid of the excess product.
This is how my brows look after I’ve just filled them in with the powders:
- Comes with 2 different shades which allow me to choose which one I want to go for.
- Dual shades also allow me to ombre brows by using both at once.
- Powders are finely milled.
- I didn’t notice any fallouts while filling in my brows.
- Comes with a compact mirror which eliminates the need to carry one separately.
- The flexibility of the brush provides a flexible application.
- It gives total control over the application since the powders are not highly pigmented
- Makes the brows look natural.
- Sleek and compact packaging so can be easily travelled with.
- It isn’t waterproof, sweatproof and smudge-proof.
- A brow gel or wax is needed to set the brows in place. Else, it will meltdown.
- The fine-tipped side of the brush applicator doesn’t seem to be much useful.
- The kit mentions it can be used for liner as well, but since it is not pigmented, lining the eyes isn’t possible.
- A bit on the pricier side.
My overall thoughts on The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit:
I have mixed thoughts honestly about this kit. It says it is a brow and liner kit, but I tried working it way too much to line my eyes and failed each time. The sleeker brush tip doesn’t pick up much product and I avoid using it most of the times. The powders are not much pigmented, but I don’t prefer heavy pigmentation when it comes to brow products. I can work with them much better when the pigmentation is lesser. I am happy that the kit comes with 2 different shades of the brow powders. It gives me the freedom to choose the shade I want to use. Also, they are so finely milled that there’s hardly any fallout when I fill in the brows.
I’m glad the way my brows look after I fill them in with the powders. However, I wish it came with a setting gel or wax so that my brows could stay in place all day long and not meltdown when the weather is hot and humid. Also, some of you might find it a bit pricey, but I honestly don’t mind spending the amount. You can go for it if you’re fine with spending the amount and going for another product to set your brows. Also, if you don’t stay in a hot, humid place.
